The West Peak of Mount Hua has an elevation of about 2,000 meters. It is named "Lotus Peak" because the rocks at the summit resemble lotus petals. Its notable feature is its "entire block"—a nearly vertical giant granite wall that can be fully seen from the cable car station.

Main Highlights

Cliff and Viewing Platform

The summit is lined with plank paths and guardrails. Looking down from the edge reveals hundreds of meters of vertical drop. The most famous spot is on the northeast side of the peak, where you can see both the South Peak and East Peak. On clear days, clouds drift below your feet.

Agarwood Split Rock

There is a giant rock at the summit split in half, associated with the legend of "Agarwood Splits the Mountain to Save Mother." The fissure is perfectly straight, making it the most popular photo spot on the West Peak.

Recommended Route

  • Effort-saving version: Visitor Center → Mountain Shuttle → Taihua Cableway → West Peak → South Peak → East Peak, 5–6 hours.
  • West Peak only: Round-trip via cable car, 2 hours is sufficient.

Practical Information

During peak season, cable car lines can reach two hours, so it is recommended to arrive at the Visitor Center before 7 AM. The summit is about ten degrees cooler than the base, so even in summer, bring a jacket. Plank paths are slippery after rain, so wear non-slip shoes.
