Qinghai Travel Routes

Qinghai is the plateau closest to the sky: the blue of Qinghai Lake is at its peak in July, the mirror-like surface of Chaka Salt Lake depends on the wind, and the Emerald Lake and Water Yadan in the Qaidam Basin are landforms that have only become known to the public in the last ten years. This site organizes Qinghai into a 6-day small loop and a 9-day "Qinghai-Dunhuang" large loop.

How to plan a route in Qinghai

We have divided Qinghai into 3 ready-made routes, covering short, medium, and long durations. Routes within the same province can be freely combined: if time is tight, take the shortest route; if you want to go in-depth, then connect two routes together.

Pre-trip reminders

• Popular attractions (Forbidden City, Mogao Caves, Jiuzhaigou, Zhangjiajie, etc.) have real-name admission limits, it is recommended to book 15–30 days in advance.
• High-speed rail tickets go on sale 15 days before departure; tickets sell out on the first day during peak season, so be sure to set a reminder.
• Plateau routes (Tibet, Qinghai, Western Sichuan) require a health certificate, it is recommended to take Rhodiola 7 days in advance.
• Senior citizens over 60 and children under 1.2 meters should be noted when booking; fares and beds will be arranged separately.
