Huangshan Travel Guide
Strange Pines · Peculiar Rocks · Sea of Clouds · Hongcun
Huangshan is the standard image of 'Chinese mountains' in the minds of the Chinese: the four wonders of strange pines, peculiar rocks, seas of clouds, and hot springs. The villages of Hongcun and Xidi at the foot of the mountain preserve complete Huizhou-style architecture. One and a half days on the mountain and two days at the foot are ideal, making four days most suitable.

Destination Details
The reason Huangshan has become a representative of "Chinese mountains" is that it transforms the composition of Chinese landscape paintings into a real scene that you can walk into: the vertical joints of the granite create a sense of steepness, the sea of clouds provides empty space, and the pine trees growing in the crevices give posture. The Huizhou villages at the foot of the mountain complement the humanistic half.
