The advantage of Yunnan is that altitude, climate, and ethnic diversity are all packed into one province: spring in Kunming, the romantic scenery of Dali, the ancient town and Jade Dragon Snow Mountain in Lijiang, the Tibetan areas of Shangri-La, and the tropical rainforest of Xishuangbanna. This site arranges Yunnan into a 6-day Kun-Da-Li route, an 8-day classic route, and a 10-day route including Shangri-La.

How to Plan Routes in Yunnan

We have divided Yunnan into 4 ready-made routes, covering short, medium, and long durations. Routes within the same province can be freely combined: if time is tight, take the shortest one, and if you want to explore more, connect two routes together.

Pre-Trip Reminders

• Popular attractions (the Forbidden City, Mogao Caves, Jiuzhaigou, Zhangjiajie, etc.) have real-name entry limits, so it is recommended to book 15–30 days in advance.
• High-speed train tickets are released 15 days before departure, and tickets sell out on the first day during peak season, so be sure to set reminders.
• High-altitude routes (Tibet, Qinghai, Western Sichuan) require health certificates, and it is recommended to take Rhodiola 7 days in advance.
• For seniors over 60 and children under 1.2 meters, please note this when booking as ticket prices and bed arrangements differ.
