Wuhou Shrine Travel Guide
Liu Bei Huiming · Temple of Three Loyalists · Tang Stele
Chengdu Wuhou Shrine is the only temple in the country where a ruler and his minister are worshiped together; it enshrines both Zhuge Liang and Liu Bei, with Liu Bei's Huiming Tomb right next to it. It is also the core landmark of Three Kingdoms culture, and next door, Jinli is Chengdu's most famous replica ancient street.

Destination Details
Chengdu Wuhou Shrine was originally built during the Shu Han period, and the main existing buildings were rebuilt during the reign of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty. Its uniqueness lies in the "joint enshrinement of ruler and minister": the front hall enshrines Liu Bei, the rear hall enshrines Zhuge Liang, and they are connected by Huiling in the middle, which is rare among shrines and temples nationwide.
Key Highlights
Liu Bei Hall and Zhuge Liang Hall
The Liu Bei Hall is the main building, with tall statues inside; the Zhuge Liang Hall is slightly smaller but has more incense offerings. There are many plaques and couplets, among which the "Strategic Heart Couplets" are the most well-known.
Tang Dynasty Stele
The "Three Masterpiece Steles"—written by Pei Du of the Tang Dynasty, inscribed by Liu Gongchuo, and carved by Lu Jian—are the most precious cultural relics in the shrine. The inscriptions have had a profound influence on later evaluations of Zhuge Liang.
Huiling and Sanyi Temple
Huiling is Liu Bei's tomb, with intact earth mounds that can be walked around; the Sanyi Temple enshrines Liu, Guan, and Zhang, and is a Qing Dynasty building.
