Wuzhizhou Island Travel Guide
Lover's Bridge · Diving · Coral and Tropical Fish
Wuzhizhou Island is one of the diving spots near Sanya with the best visibility, and there is a well-preserved coral reef surrounding the island. After arriving on the island, you can take a sightseeing car for a tour, or you can go directly into the water, and when the visibility is good, you can see clearly over ten meters away.

Destination Details
Wuzhizhou Island is opposite Haitang Bay in Sanya. It is not large, and walking around the island takes about an hour. It is famous not for its beach—Sanya has many beaches—but for underwater visibility and coral, making it one of the few reliable diving spots around Hainan Island.
Main Attractions
Lover's Bridge and Sunrise Rock
Lover's Bridge is the most famous landmark on the island, a wooden boardwalk extending into the sea with a reef stone at the entrance. Sunrise Rock is on the east side of the island, a granite area sculpted by waves, and it is the best spot to watch the sunrise in the morning.
Diving and Underwater Sightseeing
Shore diving is suitable for first-time divers; the instructor will take you around the shallow reef area where you can see tropical fish. Boat dives go to more distant reefs, with visibility reaching over ten meters. For those with children or who do not want to dive, semi-submersibles and glass-bottom boats are available, allowing you to see coral as well.
Suggested Itinerary
- Morning: take the boat to the island → island sightseeing by shuttle → Lover's Bridge → afternoon diving → leave the island in the evening.
- Combine with Yalong Bay and Haitang Bay for a one-day Sanya island tour.
Practical Information
Access to the island requires a boat ride, so take motion sickness medicine in advance if prone to seasickness. Summer is typhoon season, and large winds may result in cancellations, so confirm the trip the day before departure. Underwater activities have health restrictions, and those with myopia can wear prescription diving masks.
