Wuyuan concretizes the phrase "Huizhou countryside": white walls and black tiles, horse-head walls, waterside forests, ancestral halls, along with the rapeseed flowers in spring and the autumn harvest. It is the county where Chinese photography enthusiasts are most concentrated.

Main Highlights

Jiangling

Ten-thousand-acre terraced rapeseed flowers, with four viewing platforms from high to low. The peak season is from mid-March to early April.

Huangling

A village hanging on the cliff, best known for the autumn "sun-drying" of chili peppers and yellow chrysanthemums on the rooftops.

Likeng

Shenming Pavilion and Shenming Street are built along the stream, making it the most typical waterside village in Wuyuan.

Moon Bay

The sandbank in the river bay is shaped like a crescent; it is most beautiful in the morning when there is fog.

Local Tips

  • The rapeseed flower season and the autumn harvest season are the two most expensive weeks in the county, so be sure to book accommodations in advance.
  • The Huangling cableway has long queues during peak season, so go as soon as the park opens.
  • Villages are 20-40 minutes apart by car, and hiring a car saves half the time compared to public transport.
