Taipei Travel Guide
Palace Museum · Night Market · Jiufen · Yangmingshan
Taipei is the easiest city to explore among Chinese cities: the Qing dynasty collections at the National Palace Museum, Shilin and Raohe Street Night Markets, the mountain town steps of Jiufen, and the hot springs and flower season at Yangmingshan. Three to four days is the most comfortable.

Destination Details
The advantage of Taipei is its "density and politeness": within half an hour on the MRT, you can go from the National Palace Museum to Gongguan, and the cafes and beef noodle shops in the alleys almost do not require any planning. The foundation of the city comes from the street planning during the Japanese occupation, overlaid with the nationwide cuisines brought after 1949, eventually developing into night markets and cultural and creative parks.
Key Highlights
National Palace Museum
Nearly 700,000 pieces of Qing dynasty imperial collections, with the Jadeite Cabbage and Meat-shaped Stone being the two with the longest queues.
Shilin Night Market
The largest night market in Taipei, with Hao Dada fried chicken cutlets and large sausage wrapped in small sausage as the standard offerings.
Ximending
An entertainment street from the Japanese occupation era, tattoo shops, cinemas, and the Red House form Taipei's youthful face.
Jiufen
A stair-step mountain town on the slopes of Keelung Mountain, with the tea house night view on Zhuqi Road being one of the prototypes for Studio Ghibli animations.
Yangmingshan
A national park with volcanic terrain, experiencing peaks during the flower season in February and in the winter for hot springs.
