How many days are suitable for a trip?

First, calculate the effective days: Effective days = Total days − 3 (a transoceanic round trip and jet lag recovery each take one day, and the arrival day and return day are basically unusable). So a 10-day vacation is about 7 effective days. 7 days (4–5 effective days): one region, two cities, not crossing climate zones or altitude zones. 10 days (7 effective days): in-depth exploration of one region, or two adjacent regions. Hexi Corridor, Western Sichuan loop, Jiangnan + Huangshan are just right. 14 days (11 effective days): two regions

First, calculate the effective days: Effective days = Total days − 3 (long-haul flights for round trips and adapting to time differences each take a day, and the day of arrival and the day of return are basically unusable). So, a 10-day vacation is about 7 effective days. 7 days (4–5 effective days): one region, two cities, not crossing climate zones or altitude zones. 10 days (7 effective days): in-depth exploration of one region, or two neighboring regions. Hexi Corridor, Western Sichuan loop, Jiangnan + Huangshan are just right. 14 days (11 effective days): two regions, or a complete loop of a large region (Northern Xinjiang, Qinghai-Gansu, Tibet). Over 21 days: you can do the full Silk Road or the major loop of Sichuan and Yunnan, these are truly long trips. General rule: arrange a half-day rest every 5–6 days. For long trips without this, things will start to break down from day 8 onwards.
