China Shanhe Lu
FAQ

Do popular attractions like the Forbidden City, Mogao Caves, and Jiuzhaigou need to be booked in advance?

Absolutely, and the sooner the better. All three places implement real-name reservations and limit visitor numbers; during peak season, tickets are basically unavailable on the day, and for Mogao Caves, it is even recommended to confirm 20–30 days in advance. Additionally, note that scenic area tickets usually only include the first entry ticket, and internal sightseeing buses, cableways, and funiculars are mostly charged separately, which is the most easily underestimated expense.

It is necessary, and the earlier the better. All three places require real-name reservations and have limited entry; during peak season, there are basically no tickets available on the same day, and Mogao Caves even recommend confirming 20–30 days in advance. In addition, note that scenic area tickets usually only include the main entrance ticket; sightseeing cars, cableways, and aerial lifts inside are mostly charged separately, which is the cost most easily underestimated.
